More about achieving our Vision…

Our Vision is to be a church that shows love and compassion for God’s diverse creation.

Our Roadmap for achieving this vision includes:

  • Creating diverse, intercultural, and intergenerational ways of worship and faith formation.

  • Supporting a flourishing community,

  • Engaging in advocacy and serving in our local community, and

  • Communicating effectively within the congregation and beyond.

We will do this by creating diverse, intercultural, and intergenerational ways of worship and faith formation.

  • Intentionally seeking leadership (pastoral and lay) which represents the diversity of God’s creation

  • Creating worship experiences which are intentionally multiculturally engaged each and every Sunday (music, liturgy, leadership, testimony)

  • Engaging in relationship with and listening to diverse understandings of the Bible, theology, life, service

We will do this by supporting a flourishing, healthy, and engaged community.

  • Improving Visitor and New Member engagement

  • Creating intentional opportunities for people to gather (in person and online)

  • Improving livestream, so worship online feels the same as being in person

  • Creating opportunities for deepened relationships – sharing life, prayer, study

  • Being present for people in crisis

  • Connecting with each member and friend on a regular basis

We will do this by engaging in advocacy and serving in our local community

  • Engaging in local and global advocacy for peace.

  • Participating/leading advocacy efforts and events to protect our communities from rampant gun violence.

  • Partnering with local organizations, who are working to mitigate hunger and homelessness.

  • Educate, advocate, and commit to making practical choices, individually and in community, which participate in healing and caring for the earth.

We will do this by communicating effectively within the congregation and beyond.

  • Develop a comprehensive communication plan that contributes to a community of belonging where people feel like they are connected because they know what’s going – internally and externally.  This will happen by:

    • Creating accessible methods of communication, knowing that different people require different modes of communication (e.g. social media, phone, email, mailings, etc)

    • Improving website so it will be engaging to internal and external constituents, convey the identity of Oakhurst, and be updated regularly

    • Creating an integrated online presence – website, social media, etc
